Chiropractic

Comprised of 24 vertebrae (bones) with a soft, gel-like cushion in between (discs), connective tissues, joints, muscles, and nerves, the structure of the human spine is quite intricate. The spinal cord transmits nerve impulses throughout your whole body.

As such, everything from pinched nerves and inflamed muscles or tendons to misaligned vertebrae and ruptured discs can cause considerable back pain and neck pain that radiates to your arms and legs. Even worse, in severe cases, spinal pain can be so disabling that it makes it difficult for you to move freely or perform even the simplest daily activities.

At Reagan Integrated Sports Medicine, our certified chiropractors are trained to pinpoint the precise cause of your neck and back pain by performing a physical examination of your spine, and assessing how that pain impacts your life on and off the playing field. Once the source of your pain has been diagnosed, we can provide effective treatment to ease your pain.

We address a wide range of conditions related to spinal injury or illness. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Neck pain and back pain
  • Joint pain and stiffness
  • Arm and leg pain
  • Headaches
  • Sciatica
  • Disc problems
  • Muscle spasms

A chiropractic adjustment is a procedure in which the chiropractor uses their hands or a small instrument to apply a controlled, sudden force to a joint. This manually mobilizes regions of the body to correct any misalignment or fixation. The goal of this treatment, also referred to as joint manipulation, is to improve the motion of your spine, as well as your body's physical function.

Typically, chiropractic adjustments are more frequent at the start of treatment. In fact, you may experience some discomfort between sessions as your body adjusts to a proper alignment. However, within a few weeks, you will begin to notice its benefits, and adjustments will not only become easier, but you’ll also require less treatment.

Depending on the nature of your condition and its severity, your doctor may recommend additional treatments to enhance the results of your chiropractic care, such as:

  • Laser therapy
  • Graston Technique®
  • Myofascial release
  • Spinal Decompression
  • Physical therapy
  • Massage therapy
  • Dry Needling
